This type of makeup is not widely available in the UK that I know of, and it is mostly used for film and television makeup purposes. With the advent of HDTV, the actors’ skin is more defined, and needs better coverage to make them look good on our screens.

For anyone thinking of trying airbrush makeup at home, there was a range from Era Cosmetics which was available in the Space NK store a few years ago, although they do not stock it any more. I have some and keep it for special occasions, mainly first dates and weddings (other people’s not mine). Because it is so hard to find, I am trying to make it last as long as possible. I do think that it is mega brilliant, but the major drawback is that it is very messy and goes everywhere.

Major warning – do not use in a carpeted room! Imagine you if were spray tanning yourself, but on a smaller scale. You really need to cover your neck and shoulders with a towel to protect your clothing, and be prepared for the fact that the bits that miss your face will float in the air and settle on the floor.
