Estee Lauder have pulled the plug on Prescriptives, their niche cosmetics brand, with effect from 31 January 2010. They did not have that many beauty counters anyway, but none now remain. Their devoted fans hopefully had enough advance warning to stock up on their favourite items at a discount in the closing down sale, but if not do not despair, there are still a few options available if you are looking for Prescriptives makeup products.

For US customers, the Prescriptives online store is still open for business. They have not said how long the website will remain open, but the aim is obviously to sell off any remaining inventory. However the website is unlikely to remain open indefinitely, so stock up now while you have the chance.

When the website closes (or maybe even before) the next destination for surplus Prescriptives stock left over from the department store beauty counters will be the Cosmetics Company Store (CCS) outlets owned by Estee Lauder and found in outlet malls and villages across the US. So if you are based in the US, or visiting on holiday, find your local CCS outlet and check it out. The stores also sell discounted makeup, skin care, brushes and fragrances from several other of the Estee Lauder lines including MAC, Origins, Bobbi Brown and Clinique. Watch out though as they often only let you buy a maximum of 3 of any item, and sometimes limit your total spend, to stop people stocking up and selling the stuff on eBay. So take a friend to buy stuff for you, or if all else fails don a disguise and go back in again later!

The final likely resting place for any remaining products would be with the wholesale makeup distributors and sellers that are found on Cheap Slap, but to date no deals have come through. I will post an update here on the blog if that changes, because if and when the deals do appear, this stock will be eBay gold dust for whoever gets in first.
