For me, MAC cosmetics brushes are the holy grail of makeup brushes, the Creme de La Mer of makeup applicators. There is no doubt that they are expensive, but I have had mine for years and am not intending on replacing them any time son. They will last a long time if you look after them properly.
That said, they are professional tools for makeup pros, and for most people they are an unnecessary luxury. It is certainly worth saving up for a few MAC brushes if you can afford it, but you do not need to spend that much to achieve good results. You just might need to replace your brushes more often.
There are other good ranges of brushes out there, and for comparison purposes the MAC range is a great benchmark. As an alternative, Sigma brushes may appeal as they are similar in design to MAC (even as far as down to the brush number code), but they are much cheaper. For a step by step comparison between the MAC and their equivalent Sigma brushes, have a look at this review.
It goes without saying, but is worth repeating all the same, that MAC makeup brushes are mucho copied and there are loads of fake MAC brushes on eBay and on other internet sites. Remember that genuine MAC brushes always have the brush number code on the handle beside the MAC logo.
Authentic high end wholesale makeup brushes are available from time to time from the sellers featured in the Cheap Slap members’ area. There is not always a huge selection available but if you are patient good deals do come along. These deals are popular and sell out fast, as they are items worth stocking up on for your cosmetics business when you see them.
