I wrote a couple of weeks ago about a UK site called LatestInBeauty.com where if you register you can get up to three different beauty products samples every month. The only cost is £1 which you pay by text message to cover post and packaging.
I signed up to give it a go even though I wasn’t very excited about the selection of free samples on offer. The best choice I could make, from a not very exciting selection available, consisted of some Mary Kay skincare sachets, a Christine Aguilera perfume sample, and some DKNY night perfume and body lotion sachets. The products arrived as promised, within a week, nicely packaged in a pink box. On that basis I think the customer service is good, and that the £1 postage charge is more than reasonable. The samples are the same little type of sachets that you might get free in a magazine.
Overall however, this is not a site that I will be excitedly checking back to on a regular basis. In fact I am probably due some new samples for this month but I can’t even be bothered to check what they have, because the selection last time was so awful. But then, that’s just my individual taste, so if you haven’t had a look yet, why not check it out, you may just find something you love.
Remember that good quality samples are very saleable on eBay, but for those you may need to do some blagging or make a purchase to get some decent freebies. I remember years ago getting some of the mini Creme de la Mer samples in House of Fraser, which sold on eBay for about a tenner each. It is probably not so easy to get those now though!
One step up from free samples, are gift with purchase (GWP) sized products which are also great sellers on eBay. These products are usually bigger than sample sizes, they are more like a travel size, e.g. the goodie bags that you can regularly get from Clinique or Clarins with the purchase of two or more products. What a lot of people do not realise is that it is possible to buy these GWP products in bulk at wholesale prices, from around only $1 per item.
The wholesale makeup suppliers you will find in the Cheap Slap members area regularly have GWP deals but these do sell out quickly so members should remember to check the listings regularly.
