Whether you get her or not, Lady Gaga is great at headline grabbing. I think she is a brilliant fit with the MAC cosmetics brand both as an individualist as well as a spokesperson for raising awareness for the campaigns supported by MAC.

Lady Gaga joined up with Cyndi Lauper on the Today Show recently to talk about raising awareness of AIDs and HIV among today’s adolescents. This has caused a backlash from some people who think that Lady G is a bad role model for teenage girls. IMO if anything helps young women put their foot down in the bedroom and have the confidence to say no or insist on safe sex then that has to be a good thing. MAC donates millions every year to AIDs charity and its collaboration with music and celebrity mavens such as Gaga benefits not only raises public consciousness for an incredibly important cause, but it generates an enormous marketing benefit for the MAC brand by association.

Think about ways to market your wholesale makeup business to make it stand out from the crowd. If you don’t know any celebrities, then a catchy name is a good start. It should preferably be something memorable and relevant. For example, I chose the name Cheap Slap as a tongue in cheek reference to cheap make up (for anyone not familiar with the term, slap is UK slang for make up). Some people do not get it, but I like it, and it sticks in people’s memory!
