The past few weeks have been really busy and if you are anything like me you will be looking forward to lots of fun and merriment, gorgeous food, along with suitable relaxation (recovery) time – and whatever else takes your fancy!

I love this time of year as it offers an opportunity for reflection and also to make plans for the future. For anyone thinking of starting a cosmetics business, January is a great time to do it as there are usually a lot of good wholesale cosmetics deals just after Christmas.

In the current economy, more people are looking for ways to supplement their income and selling makeup and cosmetics is a brilliant way to earn some extra cash as well as being a really fun hobby. The beauty business certainly has been good to me and I would recommend it to anyone. In fact, there is not really any downside that I can think of, only positives:

- It is easy to start off with a very small investment (about £200 is enough). You could always get together with a few friends and pool your resources if you do not have that much to invest by yourself.

- You can buy beauty and cosmetics products you like and use yourself, so that even if you decide that ultimately the makeup business is not for you, you still end up saving money

- It is really easy to learn to sell on eBay. Your aim, however, should be to grow your business to a point where it can be independent of eBay so that you do not have to suffer eBay fees. Regular readers will know that I am not a massive eBay fan, but for now suffice to say that eBay is a necessary evil which can be used effectively to your advantage if you are smart.

- Authentic high end wholesale makeup and cosmetics products can be sourced easily through a small number of reliable suppliers if you know where to look.
