Life before lip gloss is probably something that some of you are too young to remember. When Lancome Juicy Tubes were first released, they were a cosmetics sensation. Each new limited edition was eagerly awaited. Like any big hit, Juicy Tubes became a much copied phenomenon and now lip gloss in all colours and flavours can be found to suit every age and budget. Even children are being targeted, with the Lelli Kelly makeup dolls and phones and the lip sets from Clare’s Accessories currently top of my five year old daughter’s wish list.

Instead of following the crowd this summer I will be trying something different and rocking the new range of matte lipsticks from some of the high end cosmetics houses like Chanel and Lancome. Real lipstick lasts longer, is much more grown up (think femme fatale), and is infinitely more kissable than gloopy gloss.

Chanel’s lovely new range is featured in their latest advertising campaign starring Vanessa Paradis (which reminds me, I do hope Johnny Depp doesn’t have it away with Angelina).
