Delta Plaza Reunion Party Night

Oh the excitement. I feel years younger already. It’s like going back to the future (only in reverse). Or something. I can hardly even remember all the glory details the first time round, which is neither here nor there. Those were the days of my youth, an energy and edgy innocence that is gone but not forgotten. That attitude, youthful arrogance, and teenage angst all mixed up. The music that defined our generation, that was the start of the soundtrack to my life.

All to be recreated TONIGHT folks, as I get ready for the do of the decade so far. The tickets are all sold out, so if you’re not on the list you’re not getting in. My blowdry is settling down (to be carefully mussed up later, it’s looking far too chic at the moment to pass muster with the cool and trendy folks I have not seen for so long). I will be wearing smoky eyes, biker boots, a short dress and an air of quiet confidence that I did not have as a teenager.

Who knew? That we were destined to all meet up again, older and wiser and maybe fatter and balder (the guys that is). Married, divorced, or still on the shelf, with kids of different shapes and sizes, no doubt we all have stories to tell of how we made it this far in one piece. But all the baggage that we have collected over the years will be left at the carousel at the door. Whatever has happened along the way, judgement will stand still as we recreate our youth, forget our troubles, celebrate our aliveness and remember those who checked out early for Plaza party in the sky. Will the rich and famous remember their roots and stop in to say hi? (you now who you are)!

I need to snap out of this cloud of nostalgic hopes, dreams and memories and get myself ready – whatever you are doing this Saturday night, enjoy it everyone!
