Even if you are totally credit crunched, a girl still needs a beauty treat every once in a while. Apparently lipstick sales soar during a recession and I am happy to say I am doing my bit to keep that story true.
I love lipstick because it is powerful, it shows passion and confidence, and your choice of lipstick can transform a whole look in an instant. It gives more pleasure and lasts longer than any impulse buy from asos, and all for under 20 quid.
Nude lips are in for spring. Now don’t get me wrong I love a great nude shade but the perfect one is hard to find. Smearing lips in concealer covered with clear MAC lip glass is clearly out for anyone remotely high maintenance like me, so I will soon be spending an afternoon at Selfridges checking out various shades of beige which I have been scribbling down from beauty pages in magazines. I always try before I buy having made too many expensive mistakes in the past.
I am still not convinced that nude lips actually suit me but when has something like that that ever stopped a makeupista on a mission. The fact that hair with golden highlights and naturally sunkissed skin would set off the lips perfectly has not escaped me (I am thinking more Uma Thurman than Jo Wood, by the way). Which means that realistically I might get wearing my nude lipstick for about, oh two weeks this year, if I am lucky enough to make it away on holiday. First I need to get my tonsils out, but that’s another story.
